Xbox 360 and 2 Blinking Lights

Posted on January 3rd, 2010 in Life

Xbox 360, how I despise thee.

So in September of 2008, not having much to do here in CT I thought I’d buy an xbox 360. I was doing my due diligence in finding the best price for an xbox 360 and I thought I found a great price for an xbox 360 elite. Why did I want the elite? I assumed that the top of the line xbox 360 wouldn’t be as repair prone as the standard xbox 360′s.

So I paid the extra $150 for the elite xbox 360 and I thought I got a deal until today.

I turned on my xbox today and it sounded a little different and then I didn’t understand why there was nothing being shown on the screen. I looked at the front of the xbox 360 and saw two blinking red lights. I thought to myself, “Great, you just got the ring of death. I guess you won’t be playing xbox for a while.”

I started to look online about what the two blinking lights meant and I quickly found out that it wasn’t the ring of death but it’s actually an overheating issue.

Overheating? Are you kidding me?

The room that I play the xbox in is around 50 degrees right now and the console stands on its on open and free. I haven’t even played the console today and I turned it on and, well you know the rest.

So I go online and start up a repair order and I got to the end and it says that I need to pay $99 in order to fix this problem. $99? Are you serious? I call up xbox support and talk to the girl from India or somewhere else foreign about how unhappy I am to have bought an xbox 360 elite and it malfunctioning. Not only that, but it would have been better served to have gotten the ring of death rather than the two red rings. She said there is nothing she could do except pay for the repair fee.

So now I am stuck. I really don’t want to pay for the repair because in principal, I believe that I shouldn’t pay for anything because I paid for the elite model and it failed me or do I cut my losses with xbox 360 and never play it again.

I really hate microsoft right now.

That sucks. I hope this never happens to my xbox, since I opened mine up and voided the warranty. Maybe it will work later after it cools down?

Rent an xbox from Blockbuster for a couple of weeks so you can finish the Madden season. I don’t want another championship with an asterisk because I didn’t play you.
