Apple Sucks
Posted on July 28th, 2009 in Life

Ok. Not everything apple sucks but their “Limpy” Mouse is absolutely horrible. The ball doesn’t work after a while and you can’t really take apart the mouse to fix it. Just a horrible apple experience. I do though like their slim keyboard.
So MIS told me that maybe the ball is not working because I am putting on too much hand lotion. I wonder….. maybe that is the case but I don’t think I can stop because I love the smell of midnight promegranate. It inspires me!

Misleading headline
Apple mice suck. They always have. The Mighty Mouse is a big improvement over the hockey puck that came with G3/G4 Macs. Get a Logitech mouse and call it a day.

Funny thing is. MIS gave me a microsoft mouse and I was trying it out then I opted to get another mighty mouse. I guess that does say something.

Agree with Keith – I don’t think you’ll find an Apple user out there that will defend their history of terrible mice. Steve Jobs hates buttons.
Over time, I’ve gotten the hang of my work mighty mouse and actually like how easy it is to horizontally scroll. But overall, I prefer my logitec at home.
I’ve had the same issue with the trackball and I don’t use hand lotion. I find that if you smack it against the desk a couple of times in frustration, it snaps back into place.

turn the mouse upside down, tap the bottom of the mouse a few times to loosen up any dust/particles. get a cleaning wipe, and with the mouse still upside down, lightly roll the ball with the wipe.
use a little more pressure on the roller until it and the sensors completely dry and it should greatly improve the performance of the roller ball.
i run into that issue here at the office a lot too and that’s what i do for my users and it works 90% of the time.

Very insightful Peter. Will have to try that the next time.

Ditch the mighty mouse. It absolutely sucks. As Cap said, NO ONE will say that Apple has made good mice. Get yourself a Logitech VX Nano and mouse happy.
